Embodying Adaptation

2017

Since Humans are frailly weak animals, we survived this long by making tools, creating shelter, organizing groups. Ancient Human survival grew into cultures, cities, and civilizations, which has become destructive and endangering to the environment. In the work I developed at the Galapagos Islands I explored the idea of a human using modern materials to embody the adaptability of other forms of life. I used selected materials to personify some successful strategies of adaptations. the two strategies chosen in these cases are: aposematism, which is, when an animal develops bright color, through mutations, as a warning signal of its poison to the predator; and camouflage, which is, when an animal blends in the environment so well that the predator can’t see it.
